“I am really looking forward to this conference- one of the on-going best I have attended on the West Coast.”
-Darla Inglis, PhD, Program Director, LID Initiative, UC Davis, Center for Land Use and Natural Resources
- -Our Keynote Speaker, Kevin Robert Perry, ASLA, Nevue Ngan Associates, Portland, Oregon, is a nationally recognized leader in sustainable stormwater design. His innovative stormwater projects meld the concepts of art, education, and ecological function. Throughout the day, Kevin will give us his impressions and heÂ’ll deliver closing remarks to recap key highlights. www.nevuengan.com
- -Darla Inglis (LID Initiative and UCD Extension) and Laura Podolsky (Local Government Commission) will share strategies to overcome regulatory and institutional challenges for implementing LID, based on their work with other California communities (including small Central Coast cities).
- -State Water Board staff will be on hand to discuss development and LID-related requirements of the new Phase II NPDES stormwater permit.
- -Design professionals will present LID implementation case studies and technical experts will discuss LID performance and economics.
- -We will showcase a few LID planning and design tools – such as Sacramento County’s new River Friendly Landscaping Benefits Calculator.
As always our goal is to explore development practices that can provide economic benefit and improve quality of life while complying with regulatory requirements. The best practices not only manage stormwater but also provide for water conservation, clean air, wildlife habitat, recreational opportunities, and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
